Our Story

The Thomas R. Hatch Flying Foundation was born from a heartfelt dream to carry forward Tom's legacy of service and passion. Inspired by the profound bond between Tom and his flight instructor, Josh, and the unbridled joy and camaraderie that aviation brought to Tom's life, this Foundation took flight. Today, we honor his memory by supporting aspiring pilots with financial assistance, mentorship opportunities, and the promise of life-long relationships in the sky. At the Thomas R. Hatch Flying Foundation, we believe in uplifting dreams and spreading wings — one flight at a time.

Emily is the founder of the Thomas R. Hatch Flying Foundation, ensuring that her father’s legacy lives on in exactly the way he would want: by giving back to others.
Josh Thomas

TREASURER | PILOT
Josh, Tom's former flight instructor and now a captain for Horizon Airlines, serves as a beacon of inspiration for our foundation. He and Tom formed a strong bond over aviation and spent countless hours in the skies. Away from the cockpit, Josh is a devoted family person, sharing his life with his wife and two sons.

SECRETARY | TOM’S WIFE
Ann, wife to Tom and mother to three daughters, continues to be a pillar of strength for her family. She encompasses love, humor, strength, and a passion for life. Ann enjoys being with her four granddaughters, gardening, and spending time at the New Hampshire lake house.
